DJ sets: which combination do you rent?
You better make sure that different components of a DJ set are always perfectly combined. The mixing console or mixing table is positioned at the center, with which you mix your sound sources (USB, discs or vinyl) and sliders and switches that add all kinds of effects to your sound. The more extensive the mixer, the more possibilities. Some mixers have advanced features such as autocue, quantize and waveform recognition, which make smooth transition from one track to another a lot easier.
Pay attention to the inputs, outputs and other connections you need. Larger models have jacks, options for midi, XLR, RCA and USB connections, to name just a few. This allows you to connect CD players, laptops, monitor speakers, keyboards, sequencers or a complete PA to your set. To top of your set? Rent a DJ booth as well. In a booth you can neatly store all your equipment and it serves as a protected place. Some owners also offer them when renting out their set.
Rent an all-in-one DJ controller
Brands like Pioneer and Numark also offer all-in-one DJ controllers. Quite useful because you only have to connect your sound sources and you're ready to get started. Many controllers have plug-and-play options with pre-programmed buttons, giving you direct access to effects such as slip mode and beat jump. The large jog dial wheels allow you to scratch accurately and set your track exactly at the right spot for the next transition.
Extensive range of Pioneer DJ controllers
Pioneer is the market leader in DJ controllers and related equipment and has an extensive range. Many of these can be rented from owners on Gearbooker. From them you rent their top models, such as the Pioneer CDJ 2000 line that you find in all major clubs. But there are also simpler sets for home use or at smaller parties and private events.
Pioneer is also known for their trademark recordbox software. This gives you access to millions of tracks for you to stream. Many controllers can also be controlled from your tablet or smartphone with the accompanying app. Cool!
Rent monitor speakers or PA
Of course you want to be able to hear what you mix. Many DJs use a special
DJ headset, but also forget about
monitor speakers. It gives you a more live feeling and they are also useful for small parties. If you need some more power, you will need a
PA set. In most cases this is a
mixer/amplifier with a large
speaker set. What do you need to bring out the Martin Garrix or David Guetta in you and make those grooves pop?
